About Di-Lee
Soulchoonz is the creation of an energetic lady by the name of Di-Lee. It all started 25 years ago, when Soul music became one of the most popular music genres in the North West to listen to. With many venues, live performances and weekenders, Di-Lee built out during this period her impressive network of contacts which today spans literally across the globe covering areas such as publishers, producers, djs, club promoters, fan clubs, recording artists, magazine editors, free-lance journalists, tour promoters and so on.
In 2002, Di-Lee launched ‘Soul Generations’, a soul music night in one of Bolton’s leading clubs. After a successful period running this, the ‘Soulchoonz’ website was launched in 2006 to promote individual artists typically not signed by any record label. The site went through a number of iterations including album reviews, MP3 and CD sales, interviews and other soul music related content and in this period the website regularly achieved in excess of 1 million hits per month from soul music enthusiasts across the world.
During these years, it became very clear to Di-Lee that the independent music artist was struggling to reach their fan base in a cost effective and timely manner. Launching their album into distribution (typically through CD Baby and iTunes) had become relatively straight forward, but how to then promote their album was the question that gave many artists a real challenge.
And this is where Soulchoonz evolved to in the last couple of years. With more and more projects under her belt, Di-Lee together with her crew developed specific promotional packages that allowed artists to support their album launch cost effectively and reach the all important fan base. Utilising her network of contacts, tailored services were developed and the increasing success rate of these campaigns led to an accelerated demand for these services. These days the clientele spans across artists from countries such as Australia, Belgium, France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, United States, Canada, and of course United Kingdom. Also a number of record labels like EMI, Expansion and Universal now deploy Soulchoonz promotional services as part of their integrated campaigns.
Other activities that have been developed in the last couple of years include ‘The Soulchoonz Show’, which is broadcasted monthly across a range of FM and internet radio stations in the United Kingdom and the United States. This show provides the avenue for the artists to have their music listened to by music fans across the globe. Another initiative has been ‘Soulchoonz Live’, which is a mini tour across three to four days in various venues in the United Kingdom.
In between the long list activities, miraculously Di-Lee still finds time to write song lyrics and has been working with many producers and artists including grammy award winning Tony Camillo ……….
To complete it all, Soulchoonz launched in 2008 their own little music venue called ‘Intimate Connection’ were regularly invitation only events are held that last into the very early hours supported by a wonderful group of close friends and family.
It is clear that there is ‘So Much Soul, So Little Time!’
